How to use ultram?
Ultram should be taken exactly as per the doctor’s prescription. You should not take it more frequently or for a longer period of time than recommended by the doctor. There is a risk of becoming habitual to this medication if taken in higher amounts for a longer duration. As a consequence, it may either lead to overdose or physical or mental dependence. Ultram medication is taken for the treatment of moderate to moderately severe pain.
It is mandatory to get to know the rules of the opioid analgesic REMS program in order to prevent the abuse, addiction and misuse of the combination of codeine and acetaminophen. If you feel that this medication is not yielding desired results, even after ingesting it for a couple of weeks, do not alter the dose on your own or start taking it more frequently. On the contrary, get in touch with your doctor.
If you are taking the disintegrating pill, you must ensure that your hands are dry before handling it. Open the blister pack containing the tablet only when you are ready to ingest it. The foil is peeled back and the tablet is removed from the blister pack. You must not push it through the foil. Care should be taken that the tablet is not crushed, broken or chewed. It should melt as soon as you put it in your mouth. When it melts, either swallow it or drink water.
The extended-release tablet and capsule as well as the whole tablet should be swallowed with liquids. It should not be crushed, snorted, chewed, broken or injected.
What Dosage should be followed?
The dose of this medication differs from individual to individual. You must take it as per the doctor’s instructions. How much you ingest this medication is also dependent on its strength. The time interval between two successive doses, the daily dosage schedule and the period of time for which you take this medicine depends on your physical health needs.
Extended-release capsules for chronic pain
If you are taking extended-release capsules in oral form, then 100 mg capsules once a day is recommended for adults in the beginning of the treatment. Generally, it does not go beyond 300 mg a day. Tramadol dose and use of this drug should be decided by the doctor for children 12 years old and above. It should not be prescribed in children under the age of twelve years.
